Pip is quite literally the new kid on the Old Strathcona block, and you’ll find it just off Whyte Avenue next to another old favourite, MEAT. You’re also likely find a long waiting line on the weekend when the 28-seater restaurant is busy with Edmontonians getting their brunch on. Luckily, you’re welcome to leave your name at the door and stroll around until your table is ready if you do happen to hit at rush-hour — and so we did.
A little more on the lunch-side than the brunch-side (but who’s really checking) we finally got a table and quickly ordered a fancy, schmancy brunch cocktail each! While my mimosa was slightly boring, there were second rounds of Hugo Spritz and the French 75 which made for a very jolly table in an already rowdy & rather cosy restaurant. They also serve my personal favourite, and local coffee, ACE.

Pip’s menu boasts an all-day brunch selection plus gluten-free options (yay for me, minus the french toast which I wasn’t completely sad about). While everyone might not be a fan of the Avo-Maple-Bacon combo, I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely wake up, MUCH earlier than the crowds, to have it again. If you have a post-brunch sweet tooth, order up a crepe (not GF) which they had on special — but I would recommend sharing, even Craig couldn’t finish it Post-Avo-Toast alone.
